World Chase Tag® is the world's first and only global competitive tag organisation.
It was formed by Christian Devaux in 2012 after a game of tag with his son in their back garden. A year later he was joined by his brother Damien, and together they set about turning the oldest game into the newest sport. From casual meet-ups in Hyde Park, within a few years they were hosting international competitions with some of the world's best parkour athletes and Ninja Warrior competitors.
World Chase Tag® created a standardised competitive arena, the Quad™, and a single set of rules and formats that let athletes anywhere train and compete together.
WCT™ events run in three tiers: National Championships, Continental Championships and World Championships.
Chase Tag® suits anyone who wants to test their speed, agility and endurance. Two teams face off across a series of timed rounds, one athlete chasing and one evading, and the roles switch every 20 seconds.
If you like high-intensity games and challenging yourself physically, it is a great way to get fit and meet people. As with any sport, make sure you are physically able to take part and warm up properly.
Anyone, at any age. The sport adapts to different skill levels, so complete beginners and elite athletes both have a place. Youth programmes run through WCT Academy™, usually from age 10, with early development sessions from age 6 at selected clubs.
Chase Tag® rewards quick reflexes, coordination and thinking on your feet. It is a physical activity involving running, jumping and high-impact movement, so build up gradually.
No. Start at a pace that is comfortable and build up as your fitness and skills improve. Listen to your body and take breaks to avoid overexertion.
If you are new, basic conditioning helps: running, squats, lunges, jumping drills, plus agility ladder and cone work for reflexes and reaction time. Most people improve fastest by simply playing regularly at a licensed venue with a certified coach.
The easiest route is to find a licensed venue near you in the global Quad™ finder. New venues open every month, and if there is nothing in your area yet you can sign up there to be notified.

Like any sport, it carries some risk, and proper training and supervision keep that risk low. WCT™ has specific rules covering the playing area, equipment and how a tag may be made, all set out in the official rulebook.
Start slowly, increase intensity as your skills and fitness improve, and train with a certified coach who can teach safe technique.
Nothing in the rules prohibits or restricts protective equipment. For safer and more comfortable training we recommend shin guards and knee pads that do not restrict your range of motion.
Christian Devaux founded World Chase Tag® in 2012 in the UK, joined a year later by his brother Damien. The first World Chase Tag® competition was held in London in 2017.
Since then the sport has grown into a global circuit, broadcast in 37+ territories, with the World Championships drawing the best teams on the planet.
Not yet. A sport must first be recognised by the International Olympic Committee, then go through an evaluation process that can take several years, weighing global popularity, the level of international competition, and the governance of the sport.
World Chase Tag® has built a substantial international following and a structured competitive pyramid, so inclusion remains a long-term ambition rather than a confirmed date.

You need one to compete. Any athlete entering a ranked 1v1 session, a Chase-Off™ or an official tournament carries a WCT™ athlete license.
Classes, open training and unranked play at a licensed venue need no license at all.
$25 for the full season. The WCT™ season runs from 1 August to 31 July, so a 2026/27 license covers 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027.
Licenses are not pro-rated, and they renew at the start of each season. Renew early so you stay eligible for the events on the calendar.
Register online at license.worldchasetag.com. It takes a few minutes: your details, your home city, your gym if you have one, and payment. Your license and its QR code are issued straight away.
If you train at a licensed venue, your gym can also handle registration for you as part of your competitive membership.
Only to compete. Weekly Academy™ classes and training require no license. A license is needed once a young athlete enters youth events, ranked sessions or Chase-Off™ qualifiers, and most clubs arrange it for their competitive squad.
It links your ranking and results to your home venue, and it takes $25 per year off that venue's own license fee. A WCT™ Performance Center with 48 or more affiliated athletes pays nothing for its annual license. It costs you nothing extra, and it directly supports the gym you train at.

Coaches complete the training and pass an assessment to be certified. Only World Chase Tag® LLC and its partners can certify coaches.
Prices exclude VAT. Current pricing and course dates are always shown on the education platform.
Foundation: none. Some coaching or sporting background helps, but is not required.
Level 1: the Foundation course.
Level 2: Foundation and Level 1, or equivalent experience assessed case by case.
Every level ends with an assessment combining theory and practical work, checking both your understanding of the sport and your ability to run safe, effective sessions.
Level 1 is the coaching prerequisite for a WCT™ Training Center license. It entitles a coach to:
Level 2 is one of two prerequisites for a WCT™ Performance Center license, the other being an official Quad™ (8m or 12m). It entitles a coach to:
Level 2 is mandatory for anyone coaching on an official Quad™.
Every level must be refreshed every three years through a refresher course and assessment.
A certification is only active while it sits under a current license agreement for the organisation running the activity: Level 1 under a WCT™ Training Center license, Level 2 under a WCT™ Performance Center license.
Coaches also agree to a code of conduct covering fair play, respect and sportsmanship, set out in the official rulebook.
English and French are the default languages. In some countries a translator is present, and this is specified in the course outline.
Registration stays open until the course is full or until it starts, whichever comes first. A 20% late fee applies to registrations made 14 days or less before an in-person course date.
Certificates of participation are emailed within one month of the course. Printed certificates are posted individually and can take four to six weeks to reach addresses outside France.
Certified coaches hold a WCT™ coach certificate with a scannable validity code, and licensed venues can verify it directly. If you want a coach or a venue confirmed, ask us through the contact page and we will check the register for you.
It depends on whether you operate an official Quad™.
WCT™ Performance Center ($100/month or $1,200/year): required for any venue with an official Quad™ (8m or 12m). Level 2 coach certification. The only tier allowed to host ranked sessions and ranked Chase-Offs™.
WCT™ Training Center ($10/month or $120/year): for parks, schools, youth clubs and gyms operating without a Quad™. Level 1 coach certification. Classes, training and local unranked events.

Every athlete who competes holds a WCT™ athlete license at $25 per season. When one of them affiliates to your Performance Center, $25 per year comes off your annual license fee.
With 48 or more affiliated athletes the $1,200 annual fee reaches $0. The offset cannot take the fee below zero.
Yes. You are licensing the World Chase Tag® name, which makes it legal for your organisation to use it. Whether or not you make a profit, a license is required.
Yes. We do not cap the number of licensees per area. Being first in your market is still a significant advantage when you are building the local community.
No. Only World Chase Tag® LLC and its partners can certify coaches. Your team certifies at education.worldchasetag.com.
No. Anyone coaching a World Chase Tag® class holds a current WCT™ certification, and Level 2 is mandatory to work on an official Quad™.
